Hello Hattie

North Main Historic District

Between 1895 and 1910, fine homes were built up and down Main Street and were reflective of the city's growing prosperity. Styles of these historic district homes include Victorian and Colonial Revival, Folk Victorian cottages, Craftman bungalow and a few Tudor examples. Two of the most architecturally significant buildings in the district are also Mississippi lankmarks: the Old High School, built in 1921 in Jacobean style; and the Jeff Davis School, a Mission-style building built in 1928. Others include the Twelve Oaks House, a large Colonial Revival home from 1900, and Bethea House built in 1910.
