Hattiesburg Area Historical Society Museum
The Hattiesburg Area Historical Society was organized in 1970 to fill a void in the preservation of local history and heritage. The Society was incorporated in 1971 as the first historical society in the area and the second society formed in the state of Mississippi. The Society has since founded the HAHS Museum, and is involved in discovering, collecting, and preserving any material which can help establish or illustrate the history of Forrest County and the surrounding area.
Located in the Hattiesburg Cultural Center, this museum collection consists of materials donated by HAHS members and friends. The collection includes: city directories, high school annuals and composite pictures, uniforms, old photographs, furnishings, household goods, and information on homes, industries and buildings. Visit Historic Downtown Hattiesburg and the HAHS Museum. Open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. or by appointment.
